About
One developer. No middlemen.
I'm Chris, a web developer in the UK. I build Laravel applications and WordPress sites, add AI where it earns its place, and run Kritano, the website auditing platform I founded. The person you talk to is the person who writes the code.
Who I am
I build the whole thing.
Most of my career has been building web platforms. Astro, Next.js, Node.js, Postgres, Redis: the kind of work where you have to ship something that holds up under real load. Today most of it is Laravel and WordPress. I started doing AI work in 2023, when the APIs got good enough to be the missing piece in systems I was already building.
When I say I'll integrate something with your CRM, I mean I'll build it. Not spec it for someone else. Not draw it on a slide. Build it, ship it, watch it, and fix it if it breaks.
I build my own products too. Kritano audits websites against more than 500 rules, and this site runs on cg-cms, a CMS I wrote for Laravel. That shapes how I work for clients. I know what good looks like, because I check for it every day.
Why one person
One person is the point.
Agencies tend to run the same way. Someone senior sells it, a project manager translates it, someone junior builds it. By the time the work lands, three people have stood between you and whoever wrote the code.
Work with me and the person scoping the job is the person doing it. That means:
Faster decisions. If a build choice needs your input, I ask you directly.
Straight answers. Ask what the system is doing and you'll get a real answer, in as much technical detail as you want.
Consistent work. One person writing the system means fewer places for quality to slip.
What you won't get is a 24/7 support desk or a team of twelve specialists. If you need those, you need an agency. For everything else, one person is faster and cleaner.
How I work
Four steps. No theatre.
Look. I start with what you've got: the site, the code, the process. For a website that usually means an audit, so the work goes where it makes a difference.
Scope. We agree what to build first, and I write it down: what it does, what done looks like, and roughly how long it'll take.
Build. Direct work, with tests, in small releases you can try as they land. No status meetings for the sake of them.
Hand over. Deployed, documented and yours. Then we look at what changed and decide whether there's a next step.
What I use
Tools I know well. No lock-in.
Laravel
PHP and Laravel, Postgres, Inertia and React with TypeScript, Tailwind and nginx. Tested and deployed properly.
Laravel development 02WordPress
Custom themes and plugins written for the job, speed work on caching, images and Core Web Vitals, and security hardening.
WordPress development 03AI
Anthropic Claude, with structured outputs, versioned prompts and logging built in. UK and EU regions where data residency matters.
AI implementationIntegrations
Whatever your team already uses: Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Xero, HubSpot, Notion and the rest. Direct API work, not no-code glue.
Got something to build, or fix?
Tell me where it is now and where you want it to be. I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right person for it.
